Dylan is a long time friend of the group here, so when he approached us with an idea, we were all ears. Unlike most of the new cars sold here over the past few decades, this JDM Mark II JZX90 has a recessed area on the factory bumper to mount a license plate. While this is a much cleaner solution than the bulky and awkward textured mounts that are drilled into front bumper covers everywhere, it can make the car look a little weird if you don't have something in that space in if you live in an area where front plates are not required. Since a front license plate is required in Japan and the other places where this car was sold, Toyota and aftermarket manufactures didn't bother to create a patch/fill panel.

This is where the idea comes in: since getting a JZX90 bumper is next to impossible here in the US, why not just make a panel to just make the bumper smooth? We were able to collect some data from Dylan's car and we went to work creating a solution. Our goal was to make something that fits that area with zero modification to the OEM bumper, including those small plastic alignment nubs. What we were able to provide is a panel that uses two bolts and plops in to that cavity with great fitment. Because of this fitment, it may be possible to install the panel without removing the bumper

cover if you don't have a front mount intercooler. Additionally, this part is designed to be prepped and painted with thick walls that can be sanded without having to worry about breaking through the top surface. The design also makes this part pretty strong, so gravel, rocks, and other road debris won't affect the panel. Dylan was pretty stoked when we delivered the final product, and I get why. Even in its raw state, this panel helps tie in the look of the front end. He plans on color matching the panel to the rest of the car when her repaints his bumper, so it should be pretty cool!
